Updates

I believe, beta fingers crossed, that the dA super group gremlins are now fixed, such as the reset problem with permissions. I've now gone through and tweaked. Please test the Creative Humans privileges for me and let me know if anything looks odd. If you are a Creative Human you should be able to upload artwork to the group and vote.

Still getting a whole bunch of people asking to join the dA group without either reading the 'READ FIRST!' note under the join button, or watching the video I put together (to your right). Unfortunately I don't have time to reply individually and handhold through the process. So consider this small process to become a Creative Human a basic IQ test. Ha.

Plenty of action over at DesignersCouch.org. We're giving away $20 Amazon gift cards everyday in the run up to Chrimbo.

Details: [link]

A new feature over at DesignersCouch.org is a voting system for new membership applications. You guys can now review each application and cast your vote. This gives a much fairer review process and more site interaction for all. For me personally this is great because Damian and myself never had the heart/balls to decline an applicant.

I've a few things to tidy up around here such as the dA group graphics, and take on some new staffers. I've some quiet time over the hols and can get myself up-to-date.

If I don't see you before Xmas then Happy Christmas/Holidays to one and all.

DesignersCouch Contest Winners!

DESIGNERSCOUCH - AN OFFCIAL ALPHA TESTER FOR dAGROUPS
DesignersCouch exists for the purpose of bettering its members through networking, share of knowledge and a platform to learn through constructive critiques.

OK here we go! Here are the winners of the DesignersCouch Community Participation Contest. The following are members that we really want to be here at DC. We hope that their acts of commitment and participation can inspire others to do just the same. If we can achieve 1000 members that are equally active like the following winners, then I strongly believe we'll have a thriving community we can all benefit from.

1st Place: Vladimir Pandovski

15" Macbook Pro compliments of Depthskins Design Studio and mberry + 1 Laptop Skin compliments of Sharpshirter.

Vladimir is the clear winner of this contest with his dedication to contributing quality content to DC. We watched Vladimir over the weeks as he started interesting topics, made insightful critiques and commented throughout the site. In addition to that, Vladimir was not here just for the prize, 2 weeks after the contest ends and Vladimir is still here critiquing, submitting his works, starting and partaking in discussions. So in honor of our word we show Vladimir thanks for his contribution. It's a really BIG thanks. Enjoy your Macbook!

2nd Place: Bram Vanhaeren

1 Medium Wacom Intuos compliments of DesignersCouch.

Bram is awesome! Bram's contribution to the site extends beyond what we asked. Not only did he partake in discussions, start his own, submit his awesome work and make critiques on others work, he also helped promote DC over twitter, wallpaperart.org and on other social platforms. Bram created a kick ass wallpaper for DC, submitted it to various sites to bring much needed exposure. For all his efforts we must thank Bram with the reward of that Wacom. We truly hope you find it useful.

3rd Place: Lynnea Teters

5 mega vector packs, 10 brush packs and 10 fonts from Designious.

If you're active on DC, you know this member because she's everywhere being active and doing all that she should to earn her some serious points. Weeks after the contest ends and Lynnea is still here making DC her home. So we hope that this prize is enough thanks for her support. Enjoy this Lynnea.

4th Place Steve Morel

1 Free Virtual Webinar Session of your choice sponsored by AdaptivePath.

Steve's a busy guy but you'll see him around DC often submitting his own work which in there own right are masterpieces. His critiques are often and constructive. Outside of dA Steve guest blogs on our project, DesignCritique. Thanks Steve and keep active.

5th Place Richard Fang

1 Year Subscription to Subernova Project Management for Rockstar Freelancers

Richard obviously did what the contest required. The quality we want to point out in Richard is his consistency. I'm sure Richard is busy with his everyday work but if you look at his activity, his regular visits to DC are consistent. It shows that to participate it doesn't take more than 5 or 10 mins out of your day. You'll see Richard faving designs, leaving critique and submitting his own work. It also shows how DC can be used in various ways because Richard doesn't frequent the forums but he does on other parts of the site. We thank Richard for being consistent and sharing is awesome work with us.

6th Place Livia Lucie

1 Year of free Online Media Management from Fluxiom.

Livia has been active and clearly made DC her home. As such, we'd like to reward her for that.

Congratulations to all the winners and thank you to all members for participating. I'd like to personally thank and give mention to Damian Madray for organising this competition and personally digging deep to fund the big prizes. This considerable outlay is testament to his belief and commitment to DC.

Well done to all.

Best regards,

Mark Collins
Community Director

Note to winners: you will be contact shortly with regard to your prize(s).

Thought I would blow the dust off my PS3 and give MW2 a go. Penelope suggested it this morning and has gone off to the shops to buy. She seems to think unloading a clip into a terrorist is a good way for me to unwind lol.

Anyone else getting this?

DESIGNERSCOUCH - AN OFFCIAL ALPHA TESTER FOR dAGROUPS
DesignersCouch exists for the purpose of bettering its members through networking, share of knowledge and a platform to learn through constructive critiques.

I'm looking to put together a team of volunteers that can help with the day-to-day running of designerscouch.org and our new super group at DeviantART.

Here are some examples of the different daily tasks that need attention: blog/articles/forums/events/critique/editorial. The idea is that I have a strong team of community managers and gallery directors to manage things. From a personal objective I plan to eventually promote a chosen few to Community Directors (need to think up a new title for me) so that I can step away from ground level duties and focus on the community direction as a whole.

Please only apply if you have the time and passion to help drive DC forward. I'm serious about this. If you are after a title and some fame then please don't bother applying. Once the novelty has worn off, which it will, you are left with a job to do. I've seen it time and time again over the years. People get busy, do and say the right things and then become dormant.

If you have applied before by either noting Damian or myself then can you please forget you did. I need you to reapply following the procedure here.

Thanks for reading.
